Happy New Year!

Yeah, it's already the fourth. I know.

Marc gave me a lovely Happy New Year present... he got me sick. I've been laying around the house the past couple days, feeling absolutely miserable. Good thing I have Netflix and every season of The Office to keep me company.

I'm in love with Jim Halpert. He makes me feel better.

I told you guys about the party we were invited to for New Years, remember? Well, it was awesome! After we had our (delicious) Chinese food, we headed over to Lacey and Octavian's house, which is only about 15 minutes away from us.

They had a bunch of their friends over, tons of food, and good music playing. We played games, ate, talked and had a great time. At midnight, we counted down, drank cheap champagne and Marc and I had our first married New Year's kiss! We had a great time, and we are definitely going to get together with Lacey and Octavian again. They were so nice and welcoming, and it was awesome to find fun people to hang out with.

Even though I've started off the New Year sick, I think it's going to be a great year. I have my interview at The Stranger tomorrow. In between cleaning the house today, I've been studying up on local news and politics, and reading the newspaper's website so that I can be super informed for my interview! Hopefully I do well, get an internship, impress them all and end up with a job there in three months. ::fingers crossed::

NaNoWriMo Day 1: I CHEATED

I worked 55 and a half hours this week.  I'm so tired.  Regardless of THAT, though, I knew that I wanted to come home and start NaNoWriMo (for those of you unfamiliar, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month... you write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November... about 1,667 words a day!).  I'm crazy. Project: 100 Books in 2013

At the end of 2011, I made a resolution that nearly everybody makes: I wanted to get healthy, get in shape, and most importantly, feel more comfortable in my body. More than 60 pounds later, I consider my New Year's resolution from last year to be a smashing success. I feel fantastic and have plans to continue getting healthier and happier. Since I was able to stick to my resolution last year, I am overflowing with ideas (and confidence) to continue to improve my life overall in 2013. One of the things that I really want to work on is making time to do things that I enjoy. I've fallen into a pattern lately of getting up, rushing off to work, working hard and long and then coming home, mentally drained to watch TV and play on my phone until I fall asleep after a few short hours and then repeating the process. Panic Stress Dreams. So, that's fun.

I'm really hoping that my three week vacation is ridiculously restful and relaxed and completely stressed free. That is, if the stress of getting ready to be gone for three weeks doesn't kill me before I make it to my vacation. Our plan for Friday is to leave work at noon and be out of the house, on the way to the airport around 12:30 p.m. I woke up this morning in a panic after dreaming that we were leaving work to run home and get our luggage on Friday at 1:07 p.m. To add to my anxiety, I was leaving work without finishing everything that I needed to do before I left (a big concern for me in real life over the past few weeks). So, in dream life, I get home to find that I haven't packed! Now, in real life, I have lists and packing systems and everything is going to be super organized and packed (tonight) as soon as all the laundry is done.
